Why did Shutter Island get such bad reviews, when it is obviously a brilliant movie?

All the afore mentioned and more gave Shutter Island bad reviews, but in my opinion, it is a brilliant movie even aside from the fact that it is ingeniously clever.
Why?
1) It has one of the best twists I’ve seen in a while, all though admittedly not the most unpredictable twist (the main char is actually crazy) the follow through is simply brilliant.
2) Excellent directing and cast

Mark Ruffalo
Jackie Earle Haley
Ted Levine
Ben Kingsley
and of course Martin scorsese
3) The movie is esthetically pleasing as well as seamless in its flow.
4) Good dialogue, especially liked the very ending, it makes you think before you can dismiss the movie.
Why then the horrid reviews? Sometimes I wonder if theses people don’t go out of their way to be pricks.
Why then did the movie get such a bad review?
I agree with you 100% and I never listen to critics anyway, I really think they have lousy taste in movies anyway, what makes them so special? Most of them are half rate hacks who couldn’t write a screenplay if it meant a firing squad.
