Treasure Golden Films

in National Treasure 2 ,,,why was the name of thomas gates on the missing page?
he transcribed it in the beginning of the film? but I didn’t see him write his name there.. I am missing something, because we didn’t get to see the whole film, because the theatre burnt down during the movie. we had to evacuate. it’s in the news. “local theatre fire”
one more question. how does the discovery of the city of gold clear thomas gates’s name??? so what if they found the golden city? what does that prove? that thomas gates was trying to destroy the clues?? isn’t that just hearsay??
okay, sorry, just one more question… I heard wilkeson committed suicide in the end of the flim?? is this true???
man, I hate fires.
How did it clear his name? There are many open questions about that, and YA users haven’t been able to reach a consensus yet. No, he did not commit suicide. It’s hard to explain without giving up the ending, but they got into a situation where SOMEONE had to die. And it turned out that Wilkeson got put in that position. It wasn’t really by choice.

The Lost Films of John Wayne by McGivern, Carolyn Edition ILL, 0 $23.49 In a career of more than fifty years?spanning the Golden Era from 1926 to 1976?Hollywood icon John Wayne created a treasure trove of movies. Today, scarcely an hour goes by without one of them appearing on television somewhere in the world. With most of the Wayne films available to his fans today, just a few of them remain unavailable in this era of remastered miracles. Of all the movies he made beyond the 1939 'Stagecoach' age, only two have been kept from the public: 'Island in the Sky' and 'The High and the Mighty.' Many reasons have been suggested for why the two films have been unavailable until the summer of 2005, from the thought that the original films were damaged and the copies were not good enough for additional distribution to the theory that they have been withheld for a future grand release. Whatever the reasons may be, 'The Lost Films of John Wayne' honors his work in both films and servesa as a loving portrayal of some fo the lesser-known images he left behind. |

Treasure Island $9.76 Rated: PGSynopsis: Some critics, not completely enchanted with Treasure Planet, wondered why the Walt Disney Studios didn’t make a straight animated version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s enduring story about a boy and his pirate. One reason may be that Disney already made that movie in 1950, a ripping adventure that ranks among the studio’s greatest live-action family classics. Bobby Driscoll stars as plucky young Jim Hawkins, who comes into possession of a pirate treasure map. Robert Newton is perhaps the definitive screen Long John Silver, complete with the “aargh” brogue and “pieces of eight”-squawking parrot atop his shoulder that launched a thousand parodies. Although the PG-rated violence may seem small potatoes compared to today’s screen action vehicles, it’s certainly notable for a Disney movie. One pirate takes a knife in the back, and in a tense climactic scene, Jim is wounded in the shoulder. Other unfortunate swabs tend to get shot in the face. DVD enthusiasts may quarrel with the less than pristine picture quality and the lack of extras, but young seafaring landlubbers and nostalgic baby boomers will thrill to the opportunity of sailing away with Jim and crew. Donald LiebensonThe Walt Disney production of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic novel Treasure Island is one of the company’s best live-action films of the ’50s, and one of the best family-oriented adventures ever filmed. Bobby Driscoll plays Jim Hawkins, a young cabin boy who battles the pirate Long John Silver (Robert Newton) for a treasure. Disney changes the ending of the book, yet the film is so entertaining–particularly Newton’s scene-stealing performance–that the difference is forgivable. In the ’70s, Treasure Island was re-issued with “objectionable” violence cut out of the print; the original version was restored in the 1992 home video re-release.
