Kansas Citys Community Childrens Theatre: A History.

$115.71

From 1947 to 1999, the Junior Leagues Community Childrens Theatre was a manybranched, multifaceted, organization that brought live theatre to schoolage children in Kansas City and the surrounding area. The theatre, a completely volunteer womens organization, had the goal to entertain, to educate, to broaden the horizons, to train future audiences to appreciate live theater by supporting and encouraging Trouping Units and furthering performing arts for children in our community. This thesis covers the history, women, trouping units, and plays of Community Childrens Theatre. The included production photographs are reproduced from photographs contained in the Community Childrens Theatres records, housed at the Western Historical Manuscripts Collection at the University of MissouriKansas. One thesis could never fully explain the complexity of a longlived theatre. However, this thesis elucidates a theatre group that touched the lives of over two million children with the magic of live theatre.
